Development Temporarily Paused

Black Cat recently lost his job and Kemono Dream is in the middle of moving. We both need some time to get re-situated before we can devote any more time to Beast Story. Stay tuned though! This project isn’t dead.

Halloween Event

Overview

Celebrate this holiday with some of the spooks and specters you’ll see in Beast Story later. After the Caretaker lets you into the party you’ll have 6 songs and dances to choose from. Mix and match which order you hear them in, or do them all! It’ll be the afterparty of your afterlife! Well, assuming you’re actually dead when you get there… You did die, right?

Notes

To start with, this update is SUPER late and mega behind. I’ve dealt with two family deaths recently and piling full-time work with part-time school on top of the grieving has been a massive mess. That said, despite this update being late and slow, I AM still working on it. Rather than releasing as one full update I’ve broken it into pieces because I simply cannot churn out the whole thing all at once. I have to take breaks either to cry or sleep, or both sometimes. Who knows?
Aside from that the first of six songs is available for viewing. I’m not a professional singer and I couldn’t find anyone in time to lend their voices to the songs, so please don’t be too harsh in the comments. The same goes for animating. Lack of time and resources makes them not nearly as polished as I’d like. That said, this is supposed to be a fun little surprise that will eventually make it into the full game as a yearly thing. I broke it out this time to save space. We went from 22gb to about 2.5, which I think is a pretty nice improvement for an update.

Version 0.0.1

Overview

This latest version is now paid to support development (still free to Patrons. If you wish to become one please see the link below). It features a new menu, added cutscenes and an introduction to the city you’ll be able to explore in the full game. The city is completely randomly generated and will grow larger as we add more content to it.

Known Issues/Caveats

• Character can walk on water
  • As much fun as it would be to magically become a deity this will be resolved in a future build.
• Character (male) genitalia sometimes pop through clothing
  • Even though Cyberpunk 2077 launched with this issue we PROMISE we didn’t replicate it on purpose. It will be resolved once we have updated character models.
• Character T-poses during phone call
  • This is due to the age and quality of the original character model and will be resolved in the future.
• Character tails stick straight out during cutscene
  • Same as above, though still just as annoying.
• Ghost appears during the day
  • This one is actually on purpose so new players can easily find it. Rest in peace, it will be fixed later.

There’s a few other known issues but I won’t list all of them just now.

New Content

Welcome to the City!

You can now explore the dynamically generated city of Beast Story. There’s not much to do yet but we wanted to show off how hard we’ve been working to make everything super engaging from day one.

Yep, that’s right. This update introduces the phone. It’s not much of a tool yet, but it will be vital to your gameplay in the future!

The Game

Overview

Beast Story is an adult anthropomorphic life simulation game; “My life, My Story”. The game is about a player having their character venturing in the semi-open world filled with interesting  characters, events, moments and more. The game will be in 3D and swydpbox.comable camera between third and first person. VR is not confirmed yet.

Gameplay

The basic gameplay is similar to life simulation games like The Sims 3, Second Life, GTA Online without the crime violent act or any free roaming open sandbox game. The game will be a full experience single player game with online features such as having their character appear in another player’s world (as avatar ), share items and collections from within the game, share in-game story, sell items to other players and more. 

Customization

Players can customize their character into their liking from character appearance to character biodata. The character customization won’t be too simple or too complex, we aim it to be user friendly as possible. There would be an advanced option for those who want to touch more on the details of the character. Players can customize their character body but with limited range because we want players to play the game and experience the gains.

The Story

The player starts off with renting a standard house for only one month. Players need to work or find a way to pay the rent but if they fail to pay the rent, the player will get kicked out and become homeless. Players may not be able to build their own house but they can decorate their home with leisure. 

The game has a job for players to earn money, every job has their own unique procedure. Not all job players can have, some jobs require players to have certain skills to get the job.

NPC in the game will have a unique and efficient system and possibly not too complex behavior. They will be randomly generated based on their biodata similar in WatchDog Legion. NPC will only generate after in-game months to different or new NPC. If they have been interacted with by the player often, their data will be saved and will appear more in the player game world. Part of the online feature, players can see other player characters roaming around their city or map. Every player can only register one character as their avatar to appear in another player world. They will get the same treatment as NPC in-game months where they will disappear and may come back next month. Contacting other player’s avatars, they will get notified and the player can see who interacts with their character. Similar system in Death Stranding when players use or interact with their tools.

Throughout developing the game, new content and ideas will be implemented for future game content.
